Perfect Natural Self Tanner

lavera self tannerHello paleface! Summer is over and you’re wondering how to keep a sunkissed glow over the winter without hitting the tanning booth. We all know the dangers of using a tanning booth excessively. And unfortunately, we can’t trust most of the tanning creams on the market today.

Most self-tanning creams advertised in television commercials and in your local department store are laden with harmful chemicals. Avoiding dangerous UV rays by rubbing chemicals all over your body isn’t that much better.

You no longer have to resort to streaky, blotchy, smelly tanning creams because Lavera has created a natural self tanner that truly works, one that gives you that “just off the beach” look.

Completely organic and chemical free, Lavera’s Faces SummerGlow Self Tanning Lotion for the face uses organic plant oils, organic herbs, and flower extracts. Lavera skin care products meet the strictest standards in the European skin care industry and are safe and effective for even sensitive skin.

Featured on Good Morning America and winner of the “Best Sunless Tan” Award by’s 2008 Beauty Awards, this natural self tanner contains a slightly lower dose of the active soy extracts so the color builds gradually, with no shocking contrasts or streaking. You’ll notice a tanned effect within 4 – 5 days of subsequent applications. With all natural ingredients including vitamin C and E it makes an extremely effective moisturizer.

Say goodbye to those smelly tanning lotions and get yourself a natural self tanner from a trusted name in natural organic skin care.

Paraben Free Lotion

More and more women are looking for a paraben free lotion and for good reason. EWG’s Skin Deep website indicates that parabens are linked to cancer, endocrine disruption, reproductive toxicity, immunotoxicity, neurotoxicity and skin irritation. Since parabens are used to kill bacteria in water-based solutions, they inherently have some toxicity to cells.

Another concern is that parabens are known to disrupt hormone function, an effect that is linked to increased risk of breast cancer and reproductive toxicity.

Parabens, methylparaben, ethylparaben, propylparaben, and butylparaben are used as preservatives for longer shelf life to prevent the growth of microbes in cosmetic and skin care products. Today however, more and more cosmetic manufacturers, particularly those in the natural skin care business, are seeking effective alternatives to prevent microbial growth in personal care products. Companies are testing new product formulations and have created preservative-free products with a shelf life of six months to one full year.

Whether or not you believe that the dangers of parabens exist, why take a chance when there are many alternative paraben free products on the market today? Not only are natural skin care products free of parabens, but the natural ingredients may help eliminate many annoying skin problems for good.

So how do you find a paraben free lotion?

You can visit Skin Deep and search lotions with the lowest hazard score. Remember that you may not find your favorite pharmacy brands or department store brands on this list even though they may not contain parabens. The list of products at skin deep show hazard scores based on all chemicals so look at the ingredients list.

There are hundreds of natural skin products on the market today that do not contain parabens. You most likely won’t find them at your local pharmacy and you won’t find them at Walmart. Funny thing is….often times they are cheaper. Natural skin care companies are everywhere…but you must make the effort to do the research and get over your fear of purchasing them on line.

The Best Sensitive Cleanser Products Should Not Contain Harmful Chemicals

Do you have dry or sensitive skin, or is your skin prone to breaking out? The culprit may be a chemical buildup from your current skin care products. The best answer may be to replace your existing cleansers with natural skin care products.

The best natural sensitive cleanser ingredients are glycerin, olive oil, or sorbitol based.

Personally, I have learned that stripping the skin of all its natural oils in an effort to “cleanse” the skin is actually a misconception that contributes to many skin problems. In order to retain skin’s natural pH balance and moisture, there is only one way to wash. Even expensive department store brands are not necessarily good for your skin; so the best washes to use are those that contain sensitive skin ingredients such as olive oil, sorbitol, or glycerin. The Eyelash Growth Rage Begins

Where’d You Get Those Georgeous Lashes?

By now, most everyone has heard of the new eyelash growth treatment available only through a prescription. Allergan claims that their product, Latisse, will grow lashes 25 percent longer, 106 percent thicker and 18 percent darker after 16 weeks of use.

Oh and by the way, there is a name for the condition as they are requiring prescriptions. It’s called hypotrichosis and obviously we all have it.

Does it really encourage eyelash growth? Does it turn your eyes a different color? Does it darken your eyelids? And are the results permanent? Yes, no, maybe, and no based on what I have read on the website. According to one user, after about 8 weeks, you will notice that your longest lashes will begin the shedding process and new lashes have begun growing underneath. Ok, makes sense. There must be a cut off point for how many lashes can grow on your eyelid!

And according to the Latisse website, eyelashes are expected to return to their previous appearance over several weeks to months after discontinued use. So, to keep these luscious eyelashes, you must continue using the product and at a $130 average price point along with the prescription this seems to be an expensive proposition. Consumer Reports has a great video Longer Lashes but At Real Risk about Latisse side effects and costs.

Latisse is not the only eyelash growth product on the market however; eyelash enhancements are popping up all over the place, and many more have been around for quite some time. (more…)

10 Of The Best Natural Skin Products You Never Heard Of

best natural skin productsThere are so many more than 10…I can’t possibly list them all. Natural skin products should be free of chemicals, preservatives, fragrances and best if certified organic. Most of the natural skin products from these skin care lines are some of the safest according to their ratings at the Skin Deep website, a site dedicated to educating the consumer about cosmetic safety.

If you are new to this game and have been using chemical laden skin care products from your local pharmacy that strip your skin of it‘s natural oils and cause more skin problems, you will be pleasantly surprised by the immediate results achieved when switching to an all natural skin product.

Another important factor I used when listing these natural skin products was price. Many products in the following natural skin product lines can be purchased for under $30; some as low as $5. So are they worth it? Inexpensive, natural, free of chemicals, effective, and smell wonderful. I would say, definitely worth it.
