The most popular form of mineral makeup comes in a powder, however liquid mineral makeup is certainly gaining popularity. That is because many people feel they need more coverage of their face than the powder form provides.
Rather than purchasing a brand of liquid mineral makeup that they are unfamiliar with, many people will simply convert their favorite brand into a liquid.
How is this done?
Well, choose your favorite moisturizer, and scoop out a quarter cup of it. Then, add two teaspoons of your favorite mineral makeup to it. Mix it thoroughly together – and voila, you have your liquid mineral makeup.
Your moisturizer can obviously be cream-based or lotion based. Many people use a base of aloe vera.
Purchase a resealable container to store the makeup, of the appropriate size. Eight ounces is perhaps the best size to use, but of course it’s up to you. Keep the container tightly closed after you use the makeup, in order to prevent the growth of bacteria.
This type of liquid makeup may separate out over time, but all you’ll need to do is mix it back together again.
Don’t keep your liquid mineral makeup for more than 30 days. Pigment may fade out, and that pesky bacteria can get in there regardless. Clean out the jar before storing a new batch of makeup inside it. Make sure you sanitize the jar, too.
If you don’t feel like making your own, you can certainly buy commercially prepared liquid mineral makeup. Again, you’ll have to conduct some research to find out the best brands, and since they apply differently than powder, you’ll have to learn the techniques to use it properly.
Indeed, the technique of applying any kind of makeup is a learning process, as I’m sure I don’t need to tell most of you! All it takes is practice.
