natural wrinkle treatmentEvery day, a new product comes to market with the claim of reducing wrinkles, restoring collagen and rejuvenating skin. While there are some great products on the market that will make your skin look better, nothing comes close to getting to the root of skin problems like a natural wrinkle treatment. You can apply some natural skin care ingredients directly or add some to your favorite cleansers and moisturizers.

Horse chestnut, witch hazel, rosemary (make a tea with one or two teaspoons of the dried leaves) and sage were shown by Japanese scientists to have enough antioxidant activity to assist in the war against wrinkles. You can purchase salves containing these natural herbs at health food stores.

Did you know that deficiencies in vitamin A can cause dry skin and wrinkling? Carrots are high in vitamin A and contain the antioxidant beta-carotene, so munching on carrots daily can only help you win this war. You can even purchase carrot oil and apply directly.

Crow’s feet, neck wrinkles, and upper lip wrinkles can all benefit from cocoa or cocoa butter. Make sure to look for one without added chemicals. Other alternatives are coconut oil and pure organic Argan Oil made from the nuts of the argan tree in Morocco.

Almond oil, mentioned in the Bible and once used for anointing kings and priests, has become increasingly popular as a natural wrinkle treatment and has also worked its way into the cosmetic world. Massage it into your skin to slow wrinkling.

Castor oil has been used for centuries as a facial oil and is found in thousands of cosmetic products. In addition, castor oil packs and rubs are used for various kinds of abdominal complaints, headaches, inflammatory conditions, muscle pains, and most beneficial of all, skin eruptions and lesions. It should be a staple in everyone’s medicine cabinet. You can read more about castor oil in Dr. McGarey’s book “The Oil That Heals”.

Grapes contain AHAs, the substances that help peel dead skin cells from the face. AHAs appear in dozens of over-the-counter skin lotions, including those that claim to eliminate fine lines and wrinkles. But instead of opting for an expensive brand with just a teeny bit of grapes as an ingredient, why not go the natural route? You can process grapes, even seeded varieties, in a juicer and apply the mash as a facial mask.

Since biblical times, olive oil has been used to soften and beautify the skin. Olive oil, as an emollient, just might help slow wrinkling. Prior to my discovery of organic Argan Oil, I would use apply olive oil to my face every night before bed.

The AHA’s in pineapple husks have been known to help remove bunions and corns so why not use the peel and core in a blender and apply it to your face to remove dead surface skin cells?

Most, if not all of these ingredients have been added to thousands of skin care products for good reason, however only in minuscule amounts that most likely will not make a difference. Companies unfortunately continue to add perfumes, additives and chemicals to keep the products in tact.

So why not whip out your blender and use some of these natural wrinkle treatments head on? Please remember, allergies and reactions can still occur with all natural ingredients and using them for one day is not going to turn you into a 20 year old goddess. Find something that is right for your skin and use it consistently to see best results.
