I became interested in juicing after watching Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead, and since then I have done a tremendous amount of research on the benefits of juicing on the body. Surprisingly, I learned of another benefit…glowing, healthy skin.
It’s not only what we eliminate from our diets that will improve our health, it’s also what we add to our diets that can truly make a difference. We really are what we eat. If we consistently eat a diet that is lacking in the vitamins, minerals, and trace elements required to maintain a healthy body, we won’t have a healthy body nor will we have great skin.
A large study was conducted not long ago that included people from many different ethnic backgrounds and geographical locations. The only thing that all of the participants had in common were that they were over 60 years of age.
The conclusions drawn from the study weren’t all that surprising. Those older people who had regularly eaten a diet made up mostly of vegetables, olive oil, fish, and legumes had the fewest wrinkles, and those who had regularly eaten a diet that included mostly meat, dairy products, butter, fast food, and processed food had the most wrinkles and health problems.
A diet that is high in vegetables, olive oil, fish, and legumes is not only good for the skin; it is also a heart-healthy diet, and one that is known to decrease the possibility of stroke and heart attack. Getting enough vegetables in your diet daily can be challenging and adding a green juice smoothy daily can help.
The very best way to get important nutrients from vegetables, in my opinion is juicing. Being a busy working mom, it was very difficult for me to eat healthy especially in the morning. Whipping up a green juice to go daily, gave me all of the necessary nutrients needed to give me sustainable energy, focus, and glowing skin. I can’t say enough about the health benefits of juicing only that it can change your life.
Is your skin looking dull, tired and old? Have you gained weight recently that you can’t seem to shake? Are you feeling sluggish and having a hard time focusing? You may need to detox your liver with juicing.
The liver sometimes contains hundreds of tiny little stones, smaller than a grain of sand, that can block the flow of bile. When the flow of bile is blocked, health is affected. And digestion of food and the disbursement of nutrients throughout the body, including nutrients to the skin, are also affected. The lack of some nutrients can cause wrinkling, weight gain and low energy levels so liver cleansing should be a regular part of your life.
Green juice will:
- Give you more energy
- Aid in weight loss
- Give you younger looking skin
- Help you focus
- Improve your mood
- Give you better digestion
You may lose weight (use little fruit and mostly veggies for weight loss), but I guarantee that your skin will look amazing and you will feel 10 years younger.
If you feel like you know there’s a better way to live and eat, but you just don’t have the time or support to make it happen on your own…
If you know you’ll feel better when you make a few healthy changes, but you know you need help, accountability or a plan, the 21 Day Green Smoothie Detox is your ticket to drastically changing your life.
My Favorite Green Juice Recipe
- 5 to 6 ounces baby spinach leaves, rinsed
- 2 apples, halved and cored
- 2 medium carrots, scrubbed
- 2 celery sticks
- 1/2 large lemon
- One 2-inch piece ginger, peeled
You can add some flax seed which gives you healthy fat for weight management and great skin. Run the ingredients through your juicer. I use the Nutribullet because it takes up little room on my counter and pulverizes fruits and vegetables, along with the fact that it is easy to clean. Pour over ice and enjoy!
Eating a diet that’s rich in vegetables, olive oil, fish, and legumes and drinking plenty of fluids each and every day can give us skin that wrinkles later and less, and the diet will also help prevent heart attack and stroke. Those are a lot of good reasons to get juicing!
