Safe Skin Whitening Around The Corner?

Could there be a safe skin whitening alternative around the corner? I sure hope so as I am well aware of the damage women are inflicting on the health of their skin by using dangerous skin lightening products to whiten skin. It is not worth it to me but then again exposing our fair skin to too much sun for the perfect tan is a pretty close second, doing some heavy duty damage, mainly wrinkles and skin cancer. Who am I to judge?

From Science Daily:

Safer, More Effective Skin Whitening Creams from Ancient Chinese Herbal Medicine

Science Daily (Mar. 30, 2011) — Scientists have reported discovery of the active ingredients in an herb used in traditional Chinese medicine for skin whitening, changing skin color to a lighter shade. The ingredients are poised for clinical trials as a safer, more effective alternative to skin whitening creams and lotions that millions of women and some men use in Asia and elsewhere, they said. The report was among more than 9,500 presentations the week of March 28 at the 241st National Meeting & Exposition of the American Chemical Society (ACS).

The finding, which caps an intense search for these natural skin lightening substances, could be a boon to women in Asian countries, said study leader Hui-Min Wang, Ph.D. He explained that skin whitening products are all the rage there, but too-often accompanied by itching, redness, inflammation, and other side effects.

“Toxic skin whitening creams are a growing threat to women’s health, especially in Asia,” Wang said. We hope that our product will improve lives and provide a safer, more natural way to lighten skin. A cream based on these herbal ingredients could be available on store shelves in as little as a year.” Read more..

Don’t Fall For Dangerous Skin Lightening Products

Are you using dangerous skin lightening products? Hydroquinone has been banned in many countries because of a link to cancer. Mercury has been linked to kidney failure. Tretinoin may cause redness, itching and burning. I understand your desperation, but is it worth the risk? I think not.

Here is another option….learn how to lighten your skin naturally. Yes you can. Read this report and get Xtend-Life Natural Whitening Day Cream, a natural skin lightening product for fading age spots, sun damage, skin discolorations and hyperpigmentation.

A Natural Whitening Soap That Works For Under Five Bucks!

Skin whitening continues to be a booming business with people spending millions on skin lightening products that just don’t work, damaging their skin in the process.

I found a natural whitening soap that many swear by and it costs less than five bucks. Yes, according to many reviews, this product works and it won’t damage your skin like many of the skin whitening treatments on the market today. Why? Because it is all natural of course.

If you want to get rid of dark spots on your skin, if you want to fade acne scars or lighten an uneven skin tone, say NO to face whitening creams. Here’s why…

Many of these creams contain mercury. In fact, a new Chicago Tribune recently stated that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration is broadening its investigation of mercury in skin-lightening creams after more than a dozen people using products in California and Virginia were found to have elevated levels of the toxic metal. Mercury is a powerful toxin linked to brain injury, organ failure and muscle weakness.

Hydroquinone is another harmful ingredient found in skin whitening products. It’s been linked to a skin disfiguring and darkening condition called ochronosis– and the FDA has even described it as carcinogenic. Even with the Hydroquinone side effects warnings and hundreds reporting negative side effects on skin care blogs, thousands continue to use it. Why use nasty chemical laden products when there are many safe, natural skin whitening products on the market today?

One natural alternative to whiten your skin, even out your skin tone and fade dark spots is a papaya soap. Made of 100% organic herbs enriched with natural Papaya Enzymes, Likas Papaya Herbal Whitening Soap 135 g Bar claims that after continued use, your complexion becomes fair and acne free, whitens your skin and keeps it smooth. A whitening soap that does all of that with consumer reviews backing it up? I say for less than five bucks, this is a no-brainer.

Bad Skin Whitening Cream Advice

I am not looking for skin whitening products and I could never honestly tell you which ones work because I would never use them. I am just recently learning how to darken my skin without chemical laden products or harmful UV rays!

So, while I am no expert on skin whitening creams, I did run by a popular skin care forum (that shall remain nameless) that does seem to have an expert of sorts on the “skin whitening” epidemic.

About six months ago I joined a popular skin care forum. It didn’t take me long to realize that there was one expert dishing out tons of advice on skin whitening products. This so called expert was and still is giving advice on every whitening cream and skin whitening treatment, including which prescription medication creams to use, the combination of products to use and how much to use, etc. So this guy must be an esthetician or doctor or at least he has worked in a salon to get his training. Right? Wrong.

Six months ago his profile listed him as a 27 year old wannabe pharmacist, not to mention he is a gorgeous white male. So how does this guy, who looks like he would never have to use a skin whitening cream in his life with no formal training get away with giving advice on how to whiten your skin? I am thinking I may not have been the only one asking this question as his detailed profile is no longer available.

Shouldn’t people be asking “how do you know all this stuff?” before they slather their skin with skin whitening products that could be potentially harmful?

Here are a couple of questions left on the forum for said expert:

Hi! How are you? I need help, I’ve been using the Retin A/H regime but know after 2 month i have develop after a bad eczema in my arms and chest and also very dry skin all over but too much. I realize that i cannot tolerate retin a plus hidroquinone. I did try sepiwhite and also did awful stuff to my skin. I was wondering if you can recommend me a skin lotion for all my body that is good for sensitive skin yet effective….. I dont want chulk white complexion, I have uneveness and dark patches on my body plus dry skin, i want to be lighter but I will love more like a brightening lotion that gives me a shiny glow rather than radical white complexion.

I need your help, I have facial hair due to taking meds, I use to get laser which worked but I’m back in school and have to cut down, I wax and tweeze but the problem is that I have ingrown hairs and darks spots from it. Recently I started using Vaniqua, ( to early to know if it’s working) but my question is, I use the carotein fairness gel,and clovate fast acting get not the steroid but the one made by techopharma the active ingredient is suppose to be alpha arbutin. Will this affect how it works? Also it I decide to use hydroquinone on my face will this be a problem

ohhhh….i see..thxx….also, what brand of MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane) pills do you recommend? Currently, I have been using Thienna for almost a year now and my skin has lightened approximately 2-3 shades of using it after 6 months.

I am a natural skin care advocate so no, I would never recommend anything but natural skin whitening products and unfortunately for some of you, that is not enough. I understand that. But really, people are destroying their natural skin by using the wrong combination of skin whitening products, potions, lotions, and pills.

People react differently to the same products. It may not happen immediately but from some of the posts I have read, some have seriously damaged their skin for life over time from using whitening creams, hydroquinone creams and other nasty chemical laden products. There are safe natural skin whitening products on the market today that may take longer but are far safer for you in the long run.

Be careful people. Very careful. Will natural skin whitening creams give you the riduculous results you are searching for? More than likely, not as quick as you’d like. At the very least, you will be guaranteed that your face won’t fall off in a few years.

Skin Whitening Products Can Be Dangerous Or Not

Are you still trying to lighten your skin? You may want to heed the FDA’s warning regarding skin lightening cream and skin whitening products containing hydroquinone. Not only linked to cancer, this skin bleaching chemical has been known to cause the skin disease ochronosis.

This skin disease causes adverse pigmentation or irreversible bluish black discoloration of skin.

According to eMedicine from WebMD, it is reported that 35% of African blacks exhibit ochronotic skin changes when using a 6-8% hydroquinone preparation over a prolonged period. The prevalence among users of these skin lightening creams has been stated to be 69% in a South African study.

In addition, by decreasing the the production of melatonin pigments in the skin, hydroquinone increases exposure to UVA and UVB rays deep in the skin. This increases skin cancer risks due to UV exposure.

Not convinced you should avoid skin lightening treatments and skin whitening products with hydroquinone? It has already been banned for sale in the European Union, Australia, and Japan for a reason. Or just head on over to my skin whitening products article to see some nasty pics.

Here are just some of the many lightening creams containing hydroquinone along with several other irritants such as fragrance and methylparaben:

Safe, Natural Skin Whitening Products

This 100% natural skin whitening cream contains a special extract of Extapone Nutgrass which naturally inhibits melanin to whiten your skin gently. Extrapone Nutgrass has now been shown in clinical trials to reduce melanin by up to 40%. Its effectiveness and safety have been backed up by well designed clinical studies.

Nutgrass contains a volatile oil with b-pinene, cyperene, a-cyperone b-cyperone and a-cyperol as its main ingredients. It also contains alkaloids, flavonoids and triterpenes. Recent research has shown Nutgrass Root is effective at naturally lightening the color of the skin. This is due to its ability to inhibit the formation of the skin pigment melanin. It is also found to have anti-aging properties and fades freckles.

You can be sure your skin will not only become gradually whiter naturally, but it will also become brighter and healthier with no harmful side effects.

Being a member of a popular skin care forum, I am amazed at the number of people who insist on facial lightening, risking damage to their beautiful dark skin. Unfortunately, most are ignoring the warning signs of popular skin lightening products containing ingredients such as mercury and hydroquionone.

Using skin bleaching products containing mercury is known to cause Mercury poisoning which in turn causes neurological and kidney damage and may also lead to psychiatric disorders.

Hydroquinone which is now banned in Europe, is a toxic chemical linked to cancer, as well as a condition called ochronosis which results in skin disfigurement. Still today, with the knowledge of hydroquinone dangers, thousands still insist on using it. From a popular skin care blog…

I have been using hydroquinone to fade some dark spots on my face.
I’ve been seeing some good results although it was taking a long time, slowly but surely the spots were fading.

I eneded up rubbing the cream too hard into my skin and it actually took the layer of skin off, pus came out and now it has turned dark anad looks like a cut, but my skin has been burnt.

Any advice on for a remedy/solution would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

In addition, the FDA has now issued a warning  that “over-the-counter (OTC) skin bleaching drug products are not generally recognized as safe and effective”.

In other words skin whitening creams can be dangerous to your health. Using natural skin lightening products does not guarantee that a person will not have a reaction to natural ingredients however it most certainly keeps your skin safe from dangerous chemicals.
